Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom are very loving and caring individuals. My students are very talented 25 young individuals who come from a low socioeconomic section in Florida. I have ESE, ESOL and autistic immigrant students. My students come to school filled with eager to learn and be the best they can be. My students face many challenges inside school to succeed and do their best, and they struggle outside of school to not allow the environment that they live in to stop them from achieving their dreams.
My Project
As we are located in South Florida, we have seen a lot of displaced students come to us from Puerto Rico and the Haiti. These students have lost it all and were forced to relocate to a completely different location as a means of survival. Maria ravaged these islands and left many of my students and their families feeling helpless. Recognizing that many of my students, along with their families, continue to desire a sense of normalcy in the new year, my ultimate hope is to provide the resources and experiences that will help all my students to leave their stress behind and enjoy a classroom setting that is both relaxing and challenging. I am requesting dial complete antibacterial foaming hand soap and Clorox disinfecting wipes to help keep seasonal cold and flu germs out of our classroom. I am also asking for providing snacks like takis fuego chips and capri sun variety drinks for the students to enjoy. With the good treat, the student will not be hungry while in school. These kids have come here with barely anything, and often cannot concentrate because they do not have the proper nourishment. This project hopes to help improve this problem. Through this donation, we will be able to make sure that the children displaced by Maria will have a wonderful learning experience here in the USA.
