Keep Students Safe, Digital Devices Charged

My Students

As a teacher in a low income/ high poverty school, my students with special needs are faced with challenges in and out of school. Most of them qualify for free breakfast and lunch. We have a diverse population of refugees.

Despite their physical and social challenges, I believe that they will always be an important part of society.

I am looking at providing them with simple and meaningful learning activities that will help them later on in life.

Each of my students has an individual disability with unique needs. Our school is located in an area of diversity and our students typically come from lower-income families and have difficult obstacles to overcome at home. As staff members of this special education classroom, we try our best to nurture our students and fill any voids that they lack in their home lives.

My Project

While the use of technology in the classroom far outweigh any risks, having technology as an integral part of class doesn’t come without its challenges. Despite the cited advantages of digital learning, the second largest barrier to successful implementation of having their own device is charging these devices.

To address the challenges that come with supporting technology in the classroom, it is important to keep these devices charged in the classroom.

Instead of running extension cords from outlets to student desks to charge devices, we can now provide adequate access to power and keep students' devices charged by investing on good quality charging stations.
