Keep Stretch

Help me give my students the fitness stretching equipment they need. I am offering after school sports teams that needs a slant board, foam roller and calf stretcher to help out with ankle and knee injuries.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are from the inner city of Baltimore. They come from a very diverse high school. They are hardworking and persevering. The students are striving to become successful with academics. Our high school is very unique with having a English Language learners newly implemented into our school within the last 2 years.

As a school we continue to improve relationships among our diverse population of students.

Ninety-eight percent of my students come from a low income household, with extremely limited funds.

My Project

Stretching is one my students' favorite activities. I am now offering a open swim club after school. The calf stretcher, roller and slant board will benefit the swimmers greatly. When they are first learning to swim they get a lot of calf cramps. The addition of slant board and rollers will add a new level for many students who lack the flexibility. These tools will deepen the stretch and increase flexibility without the pain. The goal with stretching is to prevent the massive leg cramps they have been getting. Lower leg stretching will also greatly help with any knee pain as well.
