Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Nowadays, students feel too busy or too cool to read books because they have other things that seem more important to them. I am trying to bring back the cool in reading by keeping them accountable to their peer Book Club groups.
These books are rich, relevant, and so cool that my students will feel compelled to keep reading.
While they are not considered "classics" yet, they are well-known and well-written that they deserve a time to read and discuss in our English class. Each student will get to choose the book that best connects to their interests and they will meet with their group weekly.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
