Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I represent inquisitive and creative two- and four-year-olds. They come to school ready to explore and learn for their physical developmental and cognitive growth. Their enthusiasm for learning inspires us every day.
We are located in an underfunded sector of Los Angeles.
The population we serve is mainly comprised of Latino children living below the poverty line. Our public school accommodates 180 general and special education students. Every student at my school comes from a low-income family and receives a free lunch.
I teach outdoor loving 5- and 4-year-olds. My children (students) are loving and spontaneous, and they love to get their bodies moving with a variety of activities. My colleagues and I have painted beautiful murals to enhance our outdoor learning areas; unfortunately, we are still in dire need of outdoor storage units for toys.
These materials will make an impact on their fine and gross motor skills. This is a pivotal time for physical and cognitive development, and these materials will greatly benefit my students. These children are the most amazing beings; they deserve the world. Please help me make this possible.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
