My Project
Students move in and out of the gymnasium all day long for a myriad of reasons beyond Physical Education classes. When we are in class, we use loads of equipment to learn the various motor and manipulative skills that lay the foundation for our developing physical literacy. Often, the gym can appear messy, when in reality it is just filled with the items we need to support our learning and limited space in which to store it.
Learning to take care of our resources is an important part of our overall Physical Education curriculum.
The requested cargo netting will be stretched across the empty spaces behind our backboards. This will increase the storage space for our equipment, get it up off of the floor and out of the way when we are not using it, open up playing space for our physical activity, and improve the safety of the space we all share. Additionally, students will be able to see the balls, hoops, and climbing apparatus stored overhead, to recall important ideas about health and fitness anchored to these objects. They can ask for the things they need and describe them if they do not know what they are called because they will be able to see them. This will help them improve their English language skills.
