My Students

I am an ESOL teacher located at two different schools. My students come from nine different countries and bring many different experiences and cultures into my classroom. Their ages range from PreK - 8th grade and are at all different levels of English language development. They are full of passion and excitement to learn!

I strive to make my classroom a welcoming environment with an exciting curriculum for my students.

There are few English language learners at my schools, which can often make them feel like they are not included and act as a barrier to assimilating into their communities. I try to create an inclusive and open environment in my classroom to support these students and motivate them to work hard at acquiring essential English language skills.

My Project

Our class is having a mid-year shortage of pencils and pencil sharpeners! Many of our pencils have "disappeared" and our plastic pencil sharpeners are breaking. Having access to basic supplies is an essential component of our day-to-day routines in ESOL class.

Pencils are a staple to our classroom assignments and I'm asking for three boxes of Staples yellow pencils.

I also need the Expo BrightSticks wet erase markers. Having access to the X-ACTO electric pencil sharpener will help limit distractions and save classroom time.

Also, many of my students do not have financial access to school supplies at home. I hope to gain enough supplies from this project to be able to send some pencils home with students to assist them with their homework.
