My students need a replacement bulb for our beloved LCD projector.

We are a KIPP school, dedicated to doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to close the achievement gap and get our students to and through college. Our kids attend school from 7:45 until 5:00 each day, plus two hours of homework, plus Saturday school, plus a mandatory summer session. Our school day is a blast, but it's the kind of fun that comes from hard work and true commitment. (Yes, we do dress up as competitors on our favorite game show, KIPP Idol, a search for undiscovered reading talent.) Last year, an independent school in our city donated two of their old LCD projectors to us. Amazing, right?! We use them on a daily basis -- to workshop student essays, watch poetry slam videos, analyze history documentaries, browse college websites, or simply take collaborative notes. They give our students access to a world of media and language that they need to master in order to compete with their suburban peers. A few weeks ago, the status light on one of the projectors started glowing red. I pleaded with it, argued with it, covered it with masking tape, and showed it inspiring video of our kids, but it would not or could not budge: the bulb was dying. We're down to one projector now, and it's likely to go any day now. Believe it or not -- I tried hard not to -- replacement projector bulbs cost several hundred dollars. We don't have that kind of money. The projectors bring a little spark of the outside world -- of college, of the Discovery Channel, of Microsoft Word, of Google -- into our classrooms. Please help us keep that spark burning.
