This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students are creative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.
Many of these students don't have the ability to learn online.
Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they face, they are eager learners.
Our students do not have access to tablets or the internet. Lack of technology means that only about a fourth of them are able to consistently connect online. However, they are still doing their best to get work done on paper.
The items I have selected will help our students continue to learn throughout the summer. The Sight Word book will help them practice the words we've already introduced and help them learn new ones they'll need to know to be ready for 2nd grade. The workbook will cover all subjects,, and help them review things learned, and introduce them to new concepts. Everything I've selected will help students get ready for 2nd grade.
Thank you for helping our students get the resources they need to continue learning during the summer break.
