This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher at a Title I school in Greenville, South Carolina. My school is a high poverty school where all students receive free lunch and free breakfast.

At my school, "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters!" We want the moments that matter most to be those in which our students learn not only the curriculum but life lessons that will carry them through their teenage years and into adulthood.

The students overcome obstacles every day in our school from language barriers to essential needs, but they still come to school with a smile on their face. I want to make their 5th grade year as special as possible. To do that, I need your help!

My Project

As the winter months are upon us, I am reminded daily of the struggles of the students in my classroom. They deal with so many things 10 and 11 year old's shouldn't have to. One thing we can all do for them is to provide something warm for them to have on the upcoming cold nights.

We have so many families that have to make the choice between buying food and other essentials for their kids, or getting them a Christmas present.

I'd like to ease that burden for them and provide their babies with something that will keep them warm over winter break! Our school closes for over two weeks and I get so worried thinking about if my kids are warm enough. I want to get them each a blanket of their very own! This fleece blanket will be the perfect gift to keep them warm! Plus, I am going to hand wrap each one so they have a present to open. My students need something that is theirs, something that can keep them warm, and something that reminds them that there are people that care about them! Please help me keep my students warm this winter with a soft, cozy blanket!
