My Students
The coronavirus pandemic closed our school for supposedly two weeks. My co-teacher and I created packets of work that were engaging and meaningful for our students in hopes they would not need all the materials we sent home. Here we are, almost eight weeks later, and my students finally were distributed laptops. The lack of technology in my students' home has really affected our learning. We have had difficulty contacting many students due to one cell phone in the home, parents working, and my students being the babysitters for their siblings. Our normal learning has decreased for now, but I know it will get better.
This week is a new week and my students are on Google Classroom excited to learn through our new adventure together online.
It has hurt my heart not to be with my students every day but they all are in contact and I am very thankful for that.
My Project
WOW!! Life has changed in every way possible this March. Our homes, work, and school are all different. Learning has been a huge change for my students. March 16th they were all sitting in their desks working and moving freely around the classroom and March 17th arrived and turned our life upside down. My students have many challenges at home from babysitting their siblings during the day, lack of meals, or just home life in general.
Learning in my class will take place all summer long, with assignments I am creating on google classroom which will be fun, engaging, and meaningful.
I want to provide them with a small bag of supplies so each student has some supplies to work with at home during the summer months to keep activity learning and to be ready for September. I am creating a reading file where the students will read different online books and then create book reports. I am creating many math activities so the students can create things such as a swim center with all different pool volumes, area and perimeters involved, and also some fun crafty activities just to help keep busy and having fun. These are just a few of the many activities and lessons I am creating for the summer for my students to enjoy and learn all summer long!
