Keep Learning Going with Manipulatives

Help me give my students Lakshore Match and Sort games, Splash It games, regrouping manipulatives, and phoneme magnetic cards.

My Project

Using manipulatives in second grade for reading and math is essential for students to better understand new skills. The Lakeshore Splash It and Skill Quickies will be wonderful for students to have opportunities to learn together and practice the skills they are learning in reading. These games will be used to review important reading skills independently. The phoneme cards are essential for teaching phonics. The manipulation of sounds is important to make sure that students are able to understand a new sound. This would be used whole class or in small groups.

Regrouping for addition and subtraction is an essential second grade math skill.

The use of place value disks are central for learning not only place value but for the process of regrouping. The magnetic regrouping addition and subtraction kits are important because of the size. They can be used in whole group on our white board or in stations for independent practice. The size is easy for younger learners to use. Whether it is reading and math, this project will support my supports to keep their learning moving!
