I teach 3rd grade in an inner city, public, elementary school where all my students are English language learners. About 80% of our students are low income and receive free or reduced-price lunches. "Having a thirst for learning" simply understates my students' attitudes toward their learning. My students are a group of motivated, hardworking learners. They are eager and ready to learn every day to build upon their knowledge. I am very fortunate to work with this group of students who yearn to learn from the start of the school day to the last bell of the day.
Our school’s mission is to provide students with effective teaching methods and a safe and nurturing environment that will prepare them for their future.
It is imperative for students to understand the importance of being global citizens who appreciate learning through collaboration. In this holistic approach, students learn the importance to be self-disciplined and work together to further challenge their thinking.
My Project
Organizational skill is an essential skill that will last a student a lifetime. This is the skill that helps students become independent, lifelong learners. With the seat pockets, students will learn to organize their belongings such as notebooks, classwork, and folders.
These seat pockets will help my students keep their belongings organized and it will maximize their learning time.
They will get to practice this skill as they learn to organize their materials every day.
Students will have their materials readily available and organized to stay on task. They will not have to fumble through their crowded desks to look for materials. Your help will help reinforce the importance of organizational skills.
