Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a third grade, Title I, elementary school in the less desirable part of the neighborhood. What these students are lacking in the pleasurable things of life, they make up for with desire and the will to improve. Although these students do not experience much of the finer things of life, they want to learn.
With that said, the majority of these students work hard to be a better part of the community.
They want to improve their lives and know knowledge is the way.
My Project
We are trying to get it done and improve our learning but plastic sandwich bags just do not seem to fit the bill. We need a safe and secure place to put our pencils and other supplies we use every day. A pencil box would seem like a treasure box to these little third grade learners and think of opening it and seeing two brand new pencils. These could be the replacement pencils we need to step in and take the place of the short stubby pencils we are now using to learn with. These little guys work OK, for now, but are about to the end of their usefulness. Soon they will be to short to fit in out hand crank sharpener and just think of a new eraser on the end of the bright yellow pencil to help correct math mistakes. These supplies could make a difference. Keeping our noses and hands clean during the winter flue season will keep us healthy and at school learning every day.l
