My students love to be engaged and learning actively. At the beginning of each school year, many enter my class scared to learn a foreign language. Others feel as if they simple cannot learn a foreign language because they have failed the previous year. However, after a couple of weeks in class through different activities, plenty guidance and some laughs, my students are happy because they actually understand Spanish.
My students absolutely love learning and applying their world language skills; the noise and excitement level in the class are evident.
They walk into class excited to learn; whether it's to show of their comprehension of the vocabulary with charades, or working in teams to solve ESCAPE ROOM puzzles, or by creating and sharing their own short story in Spanish, they love showing off what they can do.
Seeing their transformation from the beginning of school being afraid to fail again to feeling confident & wanting to continue to study Spanish the next school year, makes me very happy and proud of them.
My Project
I want to create a comfortable reading area for my students to exercise their reading and comprehension skills in Spanish. First we need two LASKO 3300 20" Wind Machine fans to help each class of 30 students cool off in our usually warm and muggy classroom. By cooling off, students will focus on learning versus on how hot the classroom is.
Spanish readers will not only provide practice with reading comprehension, but also reassure students that they are successful, and can actually learn and comprehend Spanish.
And reclining portable chairs will provide an alternative and comfortable seating arrangement, as well as help our classroom reading nook grow.
