This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

New Orleans is the most musical city in America. My kids are always so excited to play instruments, sing, and learn any and everything about music. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds including a large group that only speaks Spanish.

I was able to teach for a total of 3 weeks before the school shut down due to Hurricane Ida.

Those 3 weeks were such an incredible and eye-opening experience for me as a first-year teacher.

I am so excited to finally be back in the classroom with my students and teach them as much as I can to grow their musical knowledge.

My Project

Having a classroom vacuum would help our classroom stay clean. Between breakfast, lunch, and transitions, it is a challenge to keep our classroom floor clean. We are asking to help fund our classroom vacuum so we are able to do the best we can to keep our classroom clean throughout the day while students are here. With a new classroom vacuum it will also open up more time to our janitorial staff to ensure everything is sanitized and clean instead of worrying about a messy floor!

We have wonderful custodians who help clean our classrooms at the end of the day, however, children will be children and life's messes sometimes happen along the way, even during the school day when they aren't around.

Sometimes, we just can't wait until several hours later to clean up those messes because they can be pretty big. This project will go a long way to giving us tools we can use to keep the room clean. This will also help us to keep the room clean in between classes as I have about 200+ children come through my classroom daily.
