This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My seventh and eighth grade students are an exuberant bunch of teens who love to socialize and have fun.

Our students are diversity personified: from painfully shy to audacious; from studious to silly; from spoiled to neglected; from being treasured to traumatized.

When they arrive each day, some of my students are ready to be challenged and others are ready to be challenging. One thing's for certain: there's never a dull day when you're teaching in a culturally diverse, economically disadvantaged middle school. Each day is sure to be full of surprises!

My Project

In order to continue teaching Computers next year, I need to clear my single subject business credential. To get this credential, I had to pass the California Subject Exam for Teachers (CSET) in business, pay a $100 fee, and take a methodology class. Well, COVID-19 came along and made it impossible for me to take the methodology class this school year. I've passed the CSET and now just need to complete the methodology class in the fall. Unfortunately, because I couldn't take the class this school year, I need to get another General Education Limited Assignment Teaching Permit (GELAP) for the 2020/2021 school year.

Having one more year to complete my credential will only cost $100 for the GELAP extension, but then I will be able to teach computers in our low-income school for as long as the school keeps the class.
