My Students
My students rarely miss school. The students come to school with an open mind and readiness to learn. My students say that they would rather be in school than to stay at home. Although I consider students to be scholars, some of them are not there.
Most of my students are from low-income families and are eager to learn.
My school takes the time to challenge children of all abilities to achieve excellence in a wide range of academic, cultural and extracurricular activities. The vision is to equip children for the demands and opportunities of the twenty-first century by offering a differentiated, effective and rigorous curriculum as an entitlement to all. A professional and highly motivated staff, in partnership with parents, encourages each child to achieve his/her full potential. In a disciplined and caring environment, based on mutual respect, each child is valued as an individual.
My Project
My students may experience issues with self esteem or conflict with other students. I am teaching them to use the five competencies of social emotional learning. I use the peace room to host talking circles and peace circles to help student communicate their feelings.
Help my students get character education books and a rug to keep calm.
The character education books will help student will learn to see themselves in a more positive light with a comforted rug to sit on. The materials will help students as they reflect on self and use positive self management skills to resolve issues during talking circle and peace circles.
