My Students
In my classes, every student is special and unique. I currently teach English to English Language Learners in grades 4, 5, and 6. I've taken joy in being a part of a special school community where students, families, and teachers all work together to give our students a strong social, emotional and academic foundation. We all have the same goal in mind: to cultivate a nurturing environment in which we are committed to challenging each student to meet his/her optimal potential academically, socially, and emotionally by respecting, appreciating and challenging students in a caring community, while building a sense of responsibility and respect.
My Project
I am asking for 2 tablets for my ELL students. Technology is a huge part of our world today.
Many of my students are immigrants from other countries and have not been exposed to the tech world that many of us take for granted.
My students are learning English, and to help further their learning I am asking for 2 tablets to differentiate instruction while teaching my students reading, math and science through apps. Many of my students are motivated by technology, and see using apps on tablets as "fun", and don't realize they are actually learning while playing "games".
These tablets will help my students, who not only are stressed because learning a new language is intimidating and can be frustrating at times, feel comfortable that they can work individually on their own level learn a new language while learning other necessary skills needed for their grade level.
