This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a new teacher who’s trying to build my classroom for my students. Not only for this year but for all the students to come. The students entering my classroom are boys and girls who are determined and resilient. Our school is in a high-poverty, low-income school district. With limited resources in our district, we are often unable to purchase items that may help students excel in their learning. Although this is my first year as a preschool teacher, I have been an employee in my school district going on seven years. This has given me the opportunity to work with preschool students in the past and what I have learned is that no two children are the same, nor do they learn the same.

My goal is to give my preschoolers a sensory table full of materials for them to explore.

My Project

Sensory tables are very important in preschools because they provide so many benefits to the students. I've included items like water beads, kinetic sand, magnetic fishing poles, water wheels, water fizzing tablets, tweezers, and eye droppers along with much more to give the students a variety of materials to use in the sensory tables. This will allow me to give them different mediums to play with and explore.

Sensory tables help in developing cognitive skills as well as fine motor skills and language skills.

These materials I've requested will help keep my sensory tables exciting and new and keep the children curious.
