This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is everywhere. Technology is embedded in everything. This is why technology needs to be used in the classroom.

My classroom consists of 24 enthusiastic and happy first graders.

We are at a low-income, public school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Over 70% of our school consists of second language learners. This means that English is a second language for at least 70% of our students.

My Project

The tablets will give me another tool to help engage my students in learning. With the tablets, my first graders can access many reading apps to review sight words, letter names, letter sounds, and stories. They can also access math apps to help review addition, subtraction, place value, time, and money. And, they will be able to watch educational videos about subjects that are being taught in the classroom, for example, videos about places they can't go to or have never been to.

Having these tablets will not only help my first graders academically, but will give me a digital tool to help prepare my students for the future.

It will do so by giving my first graders the experience of using a tablet. Something some of my students may never get the opportunity to do.
