My fourth grade class is full of innovative scholars that are curious and full of creativity! Our school is located in Houston, TX , where the district consists of over 70% socioeconomically disadvantaged students and 60% English Language Learners.
My students are a part of a Title 1 school, and are often faced with many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom.
My fourth grade class consists of students from diverse backgrounds and many are faced with different learning challenges. My students love to do hands-on activities and experiments but simply do not have the proper resources to engage in learning. My students are compassionate about learning but struggle daily with having the proper resources to be successful in the classroom.
My Project
I often find myself saying, "show your work!". I know this is a task everyone can complete, if only they have the right materials to do so. In my math class students are encouraged to show their work through writing. Pencils, pens and dry erase markers are needed for underlining important information, writing number sentences, drawing pictures, and showing mathematical steps. In addition, erasers are needed for those students who make mistakes, and are willing to correct them.
My students need these basic writing tools to not only show their work, but to share their thinking!
The products I have selected will help my students to demonstrate their understanding ,not only in math, but in all subjects. Most importantly my students need these resources so that they can have a successful school year.
