Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students this year are from low income and bilingual households that have the potential to fall in love with reading. As a teacher in a low income high poverty school district I see the challenges my students are faced that other students will never experience. Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As English language learners, books are so important to my students and are truly valued.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the environment in which they learn best vary greatly.

We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year.

My Project

. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word. They will also be able to choose books that interest them.

My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy.

Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. After my students read their books they create many different projects like book posters and other craft ideas. I want to get the circuit for my classes to add 3D designs and other craft ideas to these projects.
