Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are children with mild to moderate disabilities. These disabilities range from common learning disabilities, issues with attention and focus, to underdeveloped social and communication skills. My students are hard workers who often struggle to learn general education curriculum in a traditional way. My students benefit from small groups, visual presentations, hands-on lessons and experiments, and often learn by making mistakes or trial and error.
My students are kind, caring, and hard working.
They can be very self-aware that they sometimes learn differently than their peers. This never keeps them from working hard and trying their best at every task that is presented to them.
My Project
The ETA hand2mind Daily Math Fluency kits are hands-on math learning materials that are fun and engaging for all students to use. Students in special education benefit from multiple modes of instruction. These kits will allow my students to gain a conceptual understanding of complex math concepts that they have been struggling to learn in a traditional manner.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus in math, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement and confidence.
We will use our hand2mind kits daily to develop number sense, understand mathematical relationships and gain a concrete understanding of numerical concepts.
