My Project
As you know, school can be hard and stressful for many students. This stress can be amplified in a student with Autism.
There are many things we can do to reduce stress and anxiety in the classroom to make learning more fun and effective.
A few ways we can do this are by using essential oils, offering a quiet, comfortable area, and with sensory fidgets. All of these are great ways to help students with Autism cope with sensory overload. Essential oils have been reported to positively affect mood and memory. Oils such as lavender and peppermint aid in reducing anxiety. When some of my students are having a difficult day, they need a cool, comfortable place to relax. Our school does not have air conditioning and the rooms can become quite hot in the beginning and end of the school year. Having fans to circulate and cool down the classroom will help keep the kids alert and ready to learn.
