Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Sitting at a table and trying to pay attention to the lesson that is being taught is a very hard thing to do when your body begins to twitch and you lose your ability to focus on what's going on. If there are no sensory toys for students who have autism to hold on to and use, irritation will immediately take over and instructional time can easily turn into a negative experience which means that the student can get really agitated and lose focus. This is why my autistic students are in desperate need of these sensory toys. By having these toys, my autistic students will be able to calm down a lot easier and quicker when needed and focus on the lesson.

These weighted pillows and sensory toys will really help with calming my autistic students down when they start to feel anxious or upset.

Having sensory toys that are made to meet the needs of my autistic students will help make it possible for them to have fun and be able to get more engaged in learning while being in a calming classroom environment.
