This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students have many anxieties about the fifth grade, e.,g. learning new math concepts, graduation to middle school, leaving their friends and teachers they have known since they started school. Student have a hard time trying to focus, paying attention and listen.
It would be great if the students had some type of tools that were cool, colorful, and fun to keep those anxieties from hindering their academic and social behaviors, allow them to self regulate their behaviors without redirection from the teacher.
Learning is important, making sure students are ready to learn is twice as important.
Based on research sensory tools are powerful for unique individuals, providing students moments of comfort and calming overwhelming feelings. Movement breaks are great but wobble cushions, fidgets, gel balls are even better.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
