My students need 10 "KanJam" game sets in order to participate in a stationary activity during physical education class due to the lack of space available in their gym.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Marino's classroom raised $513

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom "gymnasium" would have between 50 to 55 students in attendance. The gymnasium in which physical education classes are conducted, provides limited space for physical activities. Our students are both eager to learn and participate in physical education.
Our students are the most positive, hard working and respectful group of kids an educator can ever hope to teach.
They come from so many different background and cultures. Having such a diverse student population, provides our school with so many wonderful teachable moments. Our students demonstrate an appreciation for physical education each day they attend class.
Our school has been a fixture in the community it serves for 100 years. This year is our school's 100th year anniversary! Our school community is supportive and engaging. The administration of our school supports its teachers in every way. We are able to provide students with a wide range of clubs and activities before and after school. Even though we struggle with finding the funding for activities, our staff has been amazing at finding programs, like donors choose, to allow our students to experience what they deserve. Our student are always up for the challenges put before them in and out of our schools community.
My Project
Our students will use the materials we are requesting, to increase their group collaboration, cooperation and communication skills. "KanJam" is an activity that anyone can play, regardless of their physical ability or skill level. This activity can be modified for every skill level and is a great way to utilize the small amount of space we have within our gym. Students will be able to learn the skill of tossing a Frisbee. They will then use this new skill to participate in skill based activities. After our students have demonstrated that they are able to perform the task provided to them, they will then compete in a class wide tournament. "KanJam" is the type of activity that can help encourage those students, that would otherwise be reluctant to participate in physical activity. It will also challenge those students that excel in class, within the current basic team based games provided in physical education.
Donations to this project will improve our students experiences with alternate forms of physical activity.
For a long time, physical education was associated with typical sports such as basketball, baseball, football etc. Although, these sporting activities are a great way to remain active, it is our mission to open our students minds to new and exciting activities. We hope to increase students level of activity and provide them with more choices in physical education.
