Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The K-1 students at LFDCS are kind, creative, ELL students coming from Hispanic backgrounds. Many of them are in school for the first time, and are learning how to share, take turns, and express themselves. Many of them are learning English for the first time, and enjoy asking “what is this?” to learn the names of various nouns. Lawrence is a low- income city, and students here receive free breakfast, lunch, and snack each day. They would benefit greatly from your generosity.

My Project

Students in K1 (4 year olds) go to the dramatic play room at least two times a week. 85 students are in K1 at LFDCS, and each of these students will benefit from the new toys. Right now, we have a kitchen, tool area, dress up, and blocks. With limited choices to play with, students are looking for more ways to play.

Your donation to my project will go towards purchasing items that will help students to gain teamwork, English-speaking skills, and turn taking.

These new centers that we are looking for- construction, diner, and puppet theatre, will allow students to explore new options and learn a whole bunch of new words in English!
