K-6 Small Group Instruction Supplies for Literacy!

My Project

My students are K-6 children attending a Title I school. These children come from a disadvantaged, high-poverty neighborhood. The school qualified for a grant to provide breakfast and lunch for all students. Many students are English Language Learners eager to learn English and communicate. Our school is still seeing effects from the global pandemic with low achievement and attendance issues.

Our goal is to reteach skills and close the achievement gap.

When students leave the elementary school, resources are limited to help them become proficient. All intervention students have to be assessed and lack some basic or advance phonic skills, causing students to struggle with reading and writing.

The copy paper will be used for student stories where students can find sound spelling on their current skill they are working on. Ink will be used to print stories. Students will take the paper stories to practice in the classroom and at home. The cardstock will be used to make word sorts and skilled activities. The bags will be used to hold supplies. The phonic kits and small trinkets will be used to make the groups engaging for atudents.
