it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school's K-2 students visit the STEAM lab every week to experiment, explore, and engage in science, technology, engineering, and math learning stations. Our K-2 students would like a new station where they can do experiments. The trays, lab aprons, safety glasses, and test tubes will be used for mixing experiments, including mixing colors (in water), baking soda and vinegar or liquid starch and glue (chemical reactions), making oobleck from cornstarch and water (states of matter).
The activity tubs will be used for engineering tests, including making boats that float and testing their weight capacity (focusing on math by counting grams).
The tubs will also be used for seasonal sensory activities. Last year, a student-favorite was an instant-snow winter wonderland table. Students will use the instant snow in the activity tubs for creating arctic landscapes and exploring the snow-like texture in the winter season. The vase water beads will be used in the activity tubs for a sensory experience. Students will also observe how much water a gel water vase bead can absorb. The new experiment station will spark student interests and encourage them to ask questions, make predictions, experiment, and apply math.
