Justice, Understanding, and Love Through Literature!
Help me give my students a variety of children's multicultural literature in order to help broaden their perspectives and understanding of all kinds of people in world.
Kindergarten is a very unique and special grade! It is the first time of many. For some it is the first time ever in a classroom, first time learning how to read, first time writing their name - the list goes on! Our kindergartners are growing and learning right before our eyes. It's an incredible sight to see!
Because of the global pandemic we are experiencing, this will be the first time in a classroom for many of my students.
They are eager to learn and connect with their peers every day!
Since the beginning of the academic school year, each and every student has entered our classroom (virtual or in person) with positivity and determination. I have no doubt that these little ones cannot take an obstacle that comes their way!
My Project
Each of my students this year has demonstrated such a strong love of books and reading- their noses are always buried in books when they can! I want to utilize this love of reading as a primary tool for learning.
With these new books, I want to teach into kindness, compassion, and justice for everyone.
With this goal, I wish to gain a new collection of children's literature that will diversify our library in order to both match the lives of students in our class as well as those who are not. These books will be read to students who are both in the classroom and at home - ensuring that all students have access to these rich stories and have the opportunity to learn from the characters. With this, I am hoping to foster meaningful conversations around culture, race, kindness, compassion, justice and love. Thank you tremendously for your support!
