it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students learn about our trial system everyday in class. The podium I have now is old, falling apart, and a hazard to the students. We would like a sturdy, well made podium, that students can use for their presentations everyday.
My students range from 9th to 12th grade.
They are of varying skills and levels but they all share a common love of our legal system. Our school is a Title I school with most students qualifying for free and reduced price lunch. The majority of the students are from a lower socioeconomic immigrant background and live in a community of first generation households.
My Project
Public speaking is done every week in my classroom and a new podium would be very beneficial to my students. They can use this for their presentations, oral arguments, and Mock Trials. Ideally I would like for our school to have a mock courtroom but for now I would simply settle for a working podium that is not about to collapse for the students to use.
It will help my students to be more comfortable speaking in front of the classroom.
The one we have now is falling apart and a health hazard. It is also well over ten years old. This would greatly enhance their comfort level and performance overall in classroom presentations.
