An elementary classroom is a busy place, with students participating in a variety of activities, all while reading, researching, and learning about the world around them.
My inquisitive, eager second graders come from around the world and across the street to our fantastic school!
When they have supplies that are just the right size for their small hands, it helps them stay organized and get to work quickly. It's exciting to see them be successful and grow academically and socially.
We will use these supplies to organize our writing materials, file papers neatly, and share our experiences in journals that are just the right size for second graders!
Every morning, students transition into the school day by sharing their ideas and observations about the world by responding in their morning journals.
They read the prompt on the screen, and then take out materials to write or illustrate their responses. This daily routine gives me a window into their world, and they love to share with me as I walk around the room writing little notes and giving stickers. A junior size composition book is less intimidating than an entire page! Pencil pouches help students keep their supplies organized, and binders give them a place to file their best work and track their own progress.
