Our school is located in mid-St. Louis county. The surrounding community and the students that we serve come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. About a fourth of our students speak languages other than English, and a majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. It is a beautiful and unique community.
The students in my class are outgoing, enthusiastic learners with big hearts and so much potential.
As their Kindergarten teacher, I strive to provide my students with the very best, because they deserve nothing less. With resources funded by donors like you, I hope to furnish a comfortable learning environment and create exciting learning opportunities that motivate and encourage my community of learners.
My Project
My kindergarten students benefit from a lot of practice with writing letters, words and numbers. When they practice on paper, they often throw away 5 or 6 sheets because they don't like how it looks. When they try to erase, the paper tears. Some of my students really do not like starting over, and so they become upset and sometimes cry.
Dry erase folders and personal dry erase boards will solve this problem.
Students can try over and over until they get it right. If they like it and want to keep it, they can just copy it onto paper and have it to keep. I also plan to use these if we need to end school early and have to finish online at home. Students can take one of each, with papers in the folder, to keep practicing with writing numbers and words, solving addition and subtraction problems, and much more. Since I started teaching online this year, I have found that several of my students do not have anything to write on to show me their work. These items would solve that problem, and at the end of the year they can return them for my next group of students to use.
