A multi-cultural potluck in my classroom would be like a wonderful trip around the world! I have students who are from Brazil, India, China, Mexico, Iran, and America! These wonderful children are worldly and incredibly interesting. They are all unique in their backgrounds, but they all love to learn.
I want these kids to be engaged in the classroom because we all have so much to learn from one another.
This should be a space for them to show their differences and work together to be the best they can be.
My Project
My students are busy and active 8 year old kids. This seating equipment in the classroom is just what kids need to learn. When your body is uncomfortable it is really tough to care about anything else. In a typical classroom, students who wiggle are usually considered disruptive. I hope to change that for my active students and let them have seating that is more accommodating for their bodies.
Letting them wiggle while they work, write, and listen will help them focus on the task at hand rather than on their numb bum.
The stability balls have been used in classrooms on our campus and are received with enthusiasm and appreciation from students, teachers, and parents. I hope to bring stability ball options into my classroom as well!
