Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We like to move it, move it! Our Literacy Lab is full of learning all day long. We teach at a Title I school, with a very diverse population of students. We work with students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade who are below level in reading. We have MANY students this year who came in two or even three grade levels below where they should be. These students need help building stamina to attend to learning to read, and allowing them to move in a safe way will help immensely. We know these wiggle stools and bands will help our students focus as they learn in small group! Being able to move their bodies a little as they learn helps them to do their best, especially while in small group. Small reading groups, focused on targeted academic skills and goals are key to closing the learning gap.
