This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school has a very diverse population of children. Most come from single parent families and are living at or below the poverty level. Most students receive free lunch at school and some can't afford basic school supplies. They come to school at a disadvantage, some have no access to books and no access to technology. The children in my school are eager to learn but need more resources to fuel their interests and encourage deeper learning. Supplies are not plentiful and children need more than notebooks and pencils.

My Project

This project has some basic supplies that my class will need to work to their potential while keeping a clean and sanitary room. Having items like tissues, paper towels and wipes, pencils and healthy snacks may seem like basics that all children come to school with but that's not always the case. In my school if children don't bring in tissues then they don't have them.

Some kids come to school with no snacks and the only food they eat for the day is the school lunch and breakfast, having snacks in the classroom will help them stay full and work to their potential.

This project also has pencils and chart paper, so many of my kids come to school with no pencils to work. Having these pencils will help solve the no pencil problem. The chart will help students work in groups and create charts to display their work.
