My Project
I teach third grade in a lower income school district. My students are eager to learn and deserve more than the bare minimum when it comes to supplies.
While we build school supply lists for parents to fulfill, many of the materials we need do not last us the whole year through.
In addition, we omit some items that we would like so as to not overwhelm our families who are already financially strapped. Some of the "extra" items include colored pens are useful when self-checking work and editing writing, multicultural crayons so all students can color in their self-portrait, and contact paper to cover our old, stained up furniture. Not to mention, we are always scrounging for extra Kleenex during allergy season in the spring!
