My Students

I have a wonderful group of students. There are 9 girls and 6 boys. They enjoy talking and being active learners. Many of my students come from poverty level homes. Some are being raised by their grandparents. Reading is going to be a priority this year for them because many are still working on acquiring late kindergarten skills. It will be a challenging year, but with a lot of love and patience, I hope to instill in each child the positive belief that they are going to be successful first graders.

My Project

Hands on activities that require writing, cutting, and imagination are important for young students in every classroom to facilitate learning. Children are more eager and excited to engage in the learning process when they have materials to use and manipulate in order to express their thoughts. The items chosen will allow students to enjoy the writing process and have the means necessary to be creative with their work. My students love to enhance their writing with art that requires drawing, coloring, cutting, and gluing. When children have the necessary supplies they need in the classroom, there is no limit to their potential or creativity.
