Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district having enough materials and resources is always a challenge. I rely heavily on donations in order to enhance the learning experiences of my students. Our school is fully Title I, as approximately 59% of students come from low socioeconomic homes.
Despite the many challenges they face, students at my school are excited and motivated to learn.
Parents send their children to our school hoping for better futures. Thankfully, our students come to school with eager, open minds. They just need the resources and opportunity to excel.
My Project
My class is in need of some basic supplies that my school is unable to provide due to budget constraints. These basic supplies include colored pencils, dry erase markers, paper towel, and tissue.
While this may not sound like an exciting project, these basics will help keep my classroom clean and provide students with necessary materials.
I'm asking for enough colored pencils to complete various visual art and other academic projects. My classroom does not have a sink, so paper towel and tissue are essentials that kids use in large amounts especially during cold and flu season. I am asking for dry erase markers in various colors because they enable me to color code lessons on the board to enhance students' learning.
