This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Next year I will be moving up to 3rd grade! My school is in a low income urban area serving students from K-5, who are predominantly African American.
Since I will be looping with my class I know that they will be just as excited to learn next year as they were this year.
My students are on a variety of levels academically. With such a wide range of academic levels we need to use various methods to provide support. We will spend this year growing as individuals socially and academically.
My Project
Working at a Title I school one-hundred percent of our students' families are economically disadvantaged and qualify for free lunch. As a result many of my students do not have some of the basic supplies needed for school. I have seen students go from excited to be in school to angry because they didn't have what they needed.
I believe every student should have what they need to be successful.
In my classroom it means we all have the necessary tools to accomplish daily goals. Through this project I would like to create a class supply of pencils and crayons so that my students have what they need.
