Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are on the cusp of adulthood. They are smart and kind. Many are survivors of nonsense I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to endure as an adult.
At times, they forget some basics trying out this new world of "adulting"-- managing work, studies, activities, sports, and newfound freedom.
My students are discovering their communities are amazing yet broken at the same time. They're getting a taste of the great responsibility they will soon have for themselves and others.
My Project
My 11th and 12th grade students need to feel safe and supported with basic materials as they transition into the adult world.
Having bandaids, pencils, glue, etc.
helps them realize that we're still here to help. The packing tape will help fix ripped book covers or worn out notebooks.
The gluesticks will be used for a collage art project that helps share their "autobiographies" with the class. The collage will be the front of their covers. The packing tape will "laminate" their autobiographies.
Thanks so much for supporting our kids! They will be sure to pay it forward with gratititude.
