My Students
My class is made up of 21 very energetic boys and girls. I encourage them to be themselves and to see similarities and differences in all the children in all situations. We are in an urban New York City school.
My classroom is a fun learning environment.
If you miss one day of school you miss a lot. I’m trying to bring the children a fun and structured education all in one.
My students are full of personalities and most importantly seem to love learning. What more could a teacher of 20 years ask for?
My Project
I am simply asking for books for my awesome kindergarteners. These beginner readers are very interested in reading. They want to read everything they can. But the problem is most books are way above their reading level. They need books that are just right for them. They need books that have basic simple sentences. Books that have repetition. Books that use basic beginning reader sight words. I need to have a classroom library they are comfortable with. We have picture books. We have easy chapter books. But they are not just right books for beginners. These easy leveled books that with help my students build their sight words, build their fluency and build their confidence.
