Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to work together but find it difficult to work in groups sitting on the cold floor. I would love for my students to be able to sit at a table and have meaningful story and book discussions.
My second grade students need to be encouraged to read in anyway possible.
Reading at home is often impossible for my students since they do not have anyone to read to at home. Many of my students are acquiring English and have no one at home who comprehends the language. My students love to read to anyone who will listen and I need to encourage the love of reading within my classroom.
My Project
My students are always working together in groups but it is often difficult for them to find exactly the right area to work together in their groups. They are very protective of their "space" and do not want other groups near where they are working. I know that the requested tables are the correct fit with this problem in my room. My students will be able to use the requested tables to complete work together and share their ideas. They will even be able to sit at the tables to listen to recorded stories!
