My Students
Kindergarten in the best place in the world. It is a magical time where kids learn everything about their environment. They develop creativity and enhance their imagination. My students are high-poverty low income students from a very culturally diverse population. They are inspired by the world around them, but often times do not get exposure to much more than our rural town. We are a Title One school, but we work hard to excel. All teachers work hard to provide the best individualized education for all students. Our kindergarten class is made up of students who are eager to learn about everything.
My Project
My students "learn hard" and they need to "play hard" too! There is so much data to support the importance of physical education. My students get thirty minutes of recess each day, and I want my students to make the most of it. We have a lot to learn, and I even like my students to learn during recess. Along with all of the physical skills my students will gain using these materials, they will also use the footballs to help practicing counting and coordination. The jump ropes will be used to practice counting backwards, saying rhymes, saying the alphabet, and spelling words. We will use the balls to toss and/or kick and say letters to spell words. They can use the football to "shoot for points". If they answer a vocabulary question correctly they can shoot to get points. With the sidewalk chart, my students can use gross motor skill to write words and sentences. When teaching through play, students forget they are learning! These materials will help my students learn through fun!
