Help me give my students pencils, please! A tool that seems so simple is so important when you are a sixth grader, trying to make it through the day.

My Project

I always provide students with a pencil when they ask. I am not a teacher who replies, "It's your responsibility to have a pencil!" You know why? They don't have them. They can't make them appear. It's embarrassing to have to ask a classmate every day for the only tool you need for the day.

Families struggle to fulfill their child's basic needs, let alone replenish school supplies.

This year, I have already handed out over 288 pencils! The normal supply for the year is not enough. Our students are great kids, but they don't have what they need every day. Many parents work hard to do the best they can, but school supplies that were purchased in September are gone.
