Just Like Me

Help me give my students diverse books so that they can see themselves represented in the characters

My Project

My students will listen to read-aloud about multicultural characters to discuss differences. Multicultural Children's Literature helps children explore diversity within the global community. Diverse and inclusive books within a classroom are essential to appreciate and celebrate different cultures. They help promote respect and acceptance for all students. Our classroom also needs a pocket chart stand for engaging in reading activities.

It is crucial for students to see themselves represented in literature and be immersed in characters that reflect their own experiences.

I want to be able to provide my students with historical picture books that celebrate Black History Month, African American history, inventors, and contributors. Books such as Trombone Shorty celebrate musical excellence while Saving the Day teaches about Garrett Morgan's invention of the traffic signal.
