My Students

I spend my days working with 17 amazing preschoolers from many different walks of life. All of my students are from the inner city, and every one of them qualifies for free lunch. Many of them have single-parent households, homeless and a few are foster children.

Most of the children I teach are struggling to get their basic needs met, so to them, the ​school has become a safe place where they know they will get a warm meal.

Although they face many hardships most of us can't even imagine, they come to school every day with a smile on their faces ready to give 100%.

My Project

Dramatic play is by far the most popular center in our classroom. The majority of the children will spend most of their day playing here. I really think that providing them with new doll house furniture and doll accessories like a meal time set and pretend play magic bottles will encourage their creativity and expand their learning thru their play.

Having realistic things to play with will help these children learn to interact with others and how to use their social skills in a positive way.

They will be able to "help" other children by using the little doctor kit. This kit will also help them learn that doctors aren't scary.

Thank you for helping my students develop their social emotional skills and for making school a safe and fun place for them to spend their days.
