My Project
I currently teach in a self-contained autism unit. My students have specific sensory needs. We have been working with our occupational therapist to work on providing my students with sensory activities and materials that will support a wide range of sensory stimulation.
The spinning chairs help support the vestibular sensory system.
The floor tiles and crash pad help support tactile systems. Overall, the items for this project will help support my student's sensory and self-regulation needs. Supporting sensory stimulation is vital to developing sensory pathways and promoting development. It improves behaviors and overall self-regulation for special needs students.
